So 14 yrs ago when I installed my new 1965 rocker panel moldings on my car after I was done I looked at them and they looked bent and deformed from where I was pressing on them to lock them into the clips. At the time someone said something like "Ohh you pressed this way, instead you should have done this/that/other thing since the repro are thinner and do this alot"....well.....looking at the molding on the car half the paint is off them now and they look stale...so I finally decided to order another new set.....now......what's the proper way to click them into the mount brackets without deforming them?

Press them downward until the bottom edge just barely clips in place, work your way from one end to the other, then tighten the bolts at each end.
