Use the metal/hard plastic paint on the quater panels. I had trouble with the dye wearing off on seat covers, maybe you will have better luck.

I bought new interior quarter panels and painted them just a couple months ago... I cleaned them up, REALLY good, then masked off the chrome, and sprayed on 1 or 2 coats of Krylon Satin Black, then polished up the chrome. Came out real nice, I live by that paint, I use it on all my interior pieces with great results. Be careful, too many coats and you'll fill in the texture. Good luck!
