I have a buddy who is selling his T5 Z, which is exactly what I'm looking for to put in a mild 66 driver. The price is low enough I might take a chance, but there might be other trannys out there which don't need to be rebuilt...
The problem is that he's pushed it hard on the short track and has used nitrous behind his 351W. It has been rebuilt once before, but needs new 2nd and 3rd blockers and synchros. I can do the work myself, but wonder--how strong is the tranny? Is something else ready to give? Is it better to stick with my 1990 T5 with no issues or take a chance with the Z-spec?

He's selling belhousing, new clutch, shifter and tranny. I need the bellhousing and clutch anyway, so figure it's only costing me $100 to $200 more for the tranny.
