There are alot of parts suppliers that charge for their catalogs
and don't have 800 #'s.Now I realize they have costs to cover,
but this bothers me.I mean if you want my business why should I have to pay for it? Opinions?

When I have e-mailed or mailed a catalog request to any speed equipment vendor on my company letterhead, I have yet to be refused a free catalog, even when they supposedly charge for them...

Ask in a business-like manner (We're considering adding some new lines to our parts business....yadda, yadda) and you'll be amazed at the response...

Also, check out the reps at the big races and shows....they throw catalogs around like confetti....

Competition....

Never paid for even one. If they want my business, they sure as hell better be able to tell me what they have without me having to purchase a catalog.

If they charge for it (and especially if they don't have a toll free number) I won't bother wasting my time.

I agree with the others. I have a whole shelf of catalogs ... none of which I've paid for (or would pay for, for that matter). I was surprised a while back to hear that Sacramento Mustang charged for their catalog. I looked at mine (didn't pay for it) and saw a price on the front of it *LOL*. Of course I more than paid for that catalog with the amount of money I've pumped into their business.

NPD will give ya for free. If I cant get a catalog for free then I think their products are not marketable. Same thing with dealer freight on new cars. I tell them they gotta pay it. You wanted to show off your products for sale.
