Is this a great deal? T-10 tranny?

In my search for a 2nd money pit, I came across the following, listed for $2000:

1966 Ford MUSTANG, All original parts. less then 100 miles on complete rebuild of 289 and T10 4 spd. Disc brakes and Rallye pack. Extra parts, rough body,$4300 invested with receipts. Tired of project. Drive anywhere. Best offer

Now I'm thinking even if this is an unrestorable rustbucket, just the fresh 289 and T-10, disk brakes, and ralley pac are easily worth $2K! I've left a message for the guy to take a look.

Question, what is a T-10 4-speed? Is that an original tranny for Stangs in 66? Is it a good tranny? Thanks

Dan - I like your thinking. Let us know what you find.

As pprince said, the T-10s are not near as durable as the toploaders (which are really tough). Midlife is looking to swap his T-10 for a toploader somewhere down the line.

I think the car has real value for the parts: fresh 289 $1000, disc brakes $500, rally pac $300. You're up to $1800 in just those parts. You could conceivably buy the car and sell those parts and have (hopefully) a good rolling shell to start on.

Keep us posted! Dickson
