This is the front end of a 65 driver's side. A friend came over and said that the piece I'm pointing at is on the wrong side. Is it on the wrong side, and if so can I just turn it over or do I need to swap it to the other side? Thanks Preston

Re: Here is one more pic

The piece does seem to be on the wrong side. If you turn the spindle back, you should find it blocks movement of the spindle if you were to make a left turn.

Yup, the strut rod is on the wrong side.

Edit: That piece is actually part of the strut rod on my car. It may just be the stop bracket on yours upon closer examination of the picture.

Yes, that's the steering stop.
Here's the proper orientation '65 driver side:
