I don't know how much I thought it would cost, but that seems very high to me. I'd think if your doing the work yourself, and swapmeet as much as you can it shouldn't run nearly that high. However, if your going to go with a crated efi 5.0 and t5 then ya, it'll run on up there.
No, I was going with a fully rebuilt 351 Cleveland engine and a C6 transmission... But I don't want "swap meet" spindles, and discs, and such... I did all the math, after calling 8 different engine shops here in northern California and the absolute cheapest that I could do the conversion for was $3,200 and that was with the engine/transmission and "swap meeting it" for the rest of the parts
yeah, i spent 2 grand on my suspension swap last summer, but what i am doing is a little out of the ordinary, so yeah 5 - 8k is about right, but then again i am going to be running a 4R70W and a TT EFI 351W when i am done....
