The inner fender says it's a 66 but is a replaced one it has a rebuild title which I thought I clarified in the beginning but after reading I see I did not post that message. I spoke with the guy who sold it to me he said he ran a check when he bought it and everything was legit. So it's all pointing to the door tag being wrong. Thanks for the advice and knowledge. I appreciate it

OK, sounds good, but

WHAT physical evidence do you have tying the the title to the car?

VIN stamp is different than the title, and the door tag (Not for registration) is a make up fake.

Post some pictures under the hood, both engine area, and firewall, and a good picture showing the entire dash area and seats.

This is help a bunch.

Well this has become a nightmare. As started this because need money asap. Which does not matter because to add to this nightmare I dug out the title from the safe and realized I haven't registered in my name only signed it as I knew it would be awhile before driveable and had no itention of selling but at least now when i do go (hopefully Monday) someone will have this figured out. So guess it was for the best I forgot.

I can see that the VIN for your car is stamped into the top of the passenger side inner fender apron. It begins with *6F07C, this is the legal VIN for your car and should be the VIN that would be on a proper title for this car. From the VIN it appears your car was made in December of 1965. This VIN identifies your car as a 1966(6F) Coupe (07)with a 2V,289 V8(C).
The casting number you show for the engine, along with the date code of 7E4, identifies that the engine block was cast on the 4th week of (4)of May(5) 1967(7), so the engine is not original to this car.

FYI, Instrument panel and glove box door are 1966 through and through. Consistent with VIN stamped on inner fender.
Time for some forensic carcheology.
Look at the front for real evidence that it received a front clip replacement. That means welding besides spot welds.
Look for date code stampings on the welded together body panels in the rear of the car. My bet is they decode to late 65 or 66.

You have a '66 Mustang. That's what the LEGAL VIN indicates. There are also many '66 "clues", including the interior and quarter trim (scoop) ornament. The door is probably the only "64-1/2" item. If you don't have a Certificate of Title that matches the VIN stamped in the fender apron then you'll have to deal with whatever process your state has for registering and titling the vehicle which will probably include a visual inspection by a certified LEO or DMV officer, a check of NCIC, NLETS and NICB and, potentially, a bond requirement to get a new title.
