I have read a lot of posts on this but still not sure. I have a 289 with 40,000 and runs GREAT, but I want i little more. Could I just install a little more cam and feel the kick or do I have to play with the heads ? From what I'm told I have about 165 HP and only looking to go to maybe 210,220 tops. Would a cam do this and would my stock heads be OK ? If so what cam, maybe the Voodoo cam by Luneti ? Also in changing the cam do you have to change cam bearings ? Thanks

You will get more seat of the pants feel in acceleration by changing the rear end gear ratio.

I have a 3.40 gear from a mustang 2 now, and a 5 speed trans. Just want to know about a cam

You do not have to change the cam bearings when changing cams. The SBF heads are very restrictive on the exhaust side. Any change in cam would be further enhanced by opening up the exhaust ports, especially so if you have Thermactor bumps in the exhaust ports.

If a person was looking at a cam upgrade I'm guessing it would it also be a good idea to look at installing threaded rocker studs as well?
