It seems that one of my cars PO installed a 65 289 and 3 speed, the car was a 289/C4. When this was done the clutch pedal did not align with the clutch access hole. As such they hacked the hole in four places and simply bent the metal out. I have hammered and dollied the metal back and welded the cuts. Leaving just the clutch hole behind.

Now, I am going to run a FMX Auto. This hole should not be needed. Is there a rubber plug I can use or should I make a steel one and weld the hole shut?

Any suggestions?

I could go cheap and use an electrical plug "push penny", Seems cheezy though.

One of the standard body plugs is used. Don't know the size. Look around your car and find one the same size. Order that.

On my donor car, also a 3 speed, there was still the knock out attached at one point. Although it was bent and a bit rusty I am going to install it in my firewall.

Not sure if it will be successful.
