I've proceeded and purchased the 74 Maverick non-power M/C and was comparing the push rod with my removed original, drum brake, jelly jar one. They are almost identical withe the Maverick being slightly longer in length. Perhaps less than a 1/4".

Should I plan to use my original push rod or the new one?

My earlier posts and research on this issue tended me to be concerned about the potential of the shorter pushrod coming out when the brake pedal is retracted. I certainly dont want that to happen. Also, with the new rod I get a clip which appears to keep it retained within the M/C cylinder...something I don't have (it became destroyed...) with the original now.
