I want to put a set of Magnum 500's on my 65 Fastback but not sure what to order, 15x6 or 15x7. I have read that the 15x7's will fit a 65-66 , but cj's catalog says "15x6 magnum 500 THIS WHEEL IS PERFECT FOR OWNER'S OF 64-66 MUSTANGS THAT WANT MAGNUMS BUT CAN'T FIT A 15X7 WHEEL" Any help would be appreciated.

They're probably just erring on the side of caution; the biggest concern, and what can cause issues in backspace. However, given proper backspace, a 15x7 should be no problem - I've run a couple of sets on my '66.
Check out Dodgestang's fitment list or the one posted above to verify your options.

You can run 15 x 7 anything on there with the right backspacing. I think you want 3.75 if I can remember correctly. Someone o n here will straighten me out I'm sure. I have 15 x 7 style wheels on the convertible and 15 x 7 torque thrust wit the shelby drop on my fastback. Front fenders are rolled on the fastback but thats cause of the drop.

IMO, 4-4.25 is the best for 15 x7 in the front.

I think most parts vendors sell kits that are 15x7 front , 15x8 rear.
