McKinney Education Foundation Revs-Up for 2nd Annual
Steering for Scholarships: “Drive It or Show It” on April 9th,

McKinney, Texas - Vipers, and Jaguars, and Mustangs! Oh My! The
McKinney Education Foundation would like to invite car enthusiasts from
all over the metroplex to the 2nd Annual Steering for Scholarships:
“Drive it or Show it!” After the success of last year’s
inaugural event, MEF has expanded to a dual event including both a 99
mile cruise north out of McKinney through Blue Ridge, Leonard, Prosper
and back into McKinney. The second coinciding event will be a
“Show-N-Shine” held on the MHS parking lot, just across from Town
Lake. Additionally, the McKinney Fire and Police Departments will be
on-hand, along with community vendors, to make the Show-in-Shine an
event for the entire family.

When describing the inspiration for the fundraiser, John Valencia, MEF
Emeritus Trustee and car enthusiast explained, “When a bunch of guys
and gals get together with their cars, the energy is contagious! This
is what I was hoping for when we came up with Steering for Scholarships
last year, and it looks like it’s working! This is only year two and
we've got twice the event! The "Drive" is back again, but new this year
is a true "Show-n-Shine" for those that just want to park it and hang
out. This way there's something for everyone. I guess it is contagious!
Since it is a Fundraiser for the Foundation, there will be small
participant fees, but Hamm’s will provide lunch for the registrants
and it will be free admission for the public.

Registration for both events begins the day of the event at 8am at
McKinney High School, 1400 Wilson Creek Pkwy, McKinney, TX. Entry fees
(which include a BBQ lunch by Hamm’s) are: $50 to Drive and $30.00 for
the Show-in-Shine. The 99 mile Drive and the Show-in-Shine begins at 9am
and lunch opens at 11am. Awards and raffle winners will be announced at
11:30. Sponsors: Independent Bank, Hamm’s Custom Meats, Napa Auto
Parts McKinney, Tomes Auto Group, McKinney Volkswagen, Market Street,
Pat Loeb Toyota of McKinney, Bear Creek Country Store, Palio’s Pizza
in Prosper. For more information or to pre-register, please call
Melanie Perkins, MEF Executive Director at: 469-742-6314 or John
