will replacing the lifters alone make any difference in an motor with 40k + miles on it. or do these things just last forever. an if so what would be gained. hp . better oiling. .or what? hehe.. autozone has them for 2.00 each. 3mo warranty, I might grab a set while im at this valve job. my cam looks nice and smooth also..so i shouldnt have a prob right?

You shouldn't put new lifters on an old cam. They wera in to each other, and lots of times, replacing one will wear the other out faster...
Now is a great time for that hot cam, to go with the new lifters...

Lifters rarely go bad by themselves. I don't think it is worth the trouble.

New lifters can be installed on a used cam, but used lifters can never be installed on any other cam, or in a different order, than they were originally installed.
