Don't see any reasons why you would. It will depend on what kind of rise you have on the manifold. Latman

I was going to use Edelbrock performer or performer RPM with a holly carb

you will need to buy a low profile air cleaner to clear that what i had to do with my 351c anyway.

You will have to use a very low-profile air cleaner. I'm using a 289 HiPo cleaner and a stock 69 intake. Most aluminum intakes will aggrevate the problem.
