I cracked not one, but two motor mounts last week, and I just got my new ones in the mail today. I have the early '65 45 degree mounts. My question is: Can I simply remove the two nuts on the vertical mounts,(maybe the first two tranny mount screws as well) then jack the engine up using a 2X4 or some support across the oil pan? That would make it easy to remove and replace both mounts. I have used this technique to help install and remove the tranny, and the jack seemed to support the engine fine. Thanks for any and all info!

Yep, that will work. Don't even need to unbolt the trans. Just a block of wood on your floor jack to protect the oil pan. Then just enough pressure to hold the motor in place. You'll be in and out in no time.

Thanks! I didn't want to get under there again and have something slip... Last time when the tranny did that my helper needed stitches for his finger...

Just do one side at a time, and you should be fine doing just like 66stangFb said.
