At a car show, having a discussion on hood letters. Do ALL 67 have FORD on the hood?
Or any exception like 67 GT 390 cars not having them?
I have them on my 67 GT 390, but talking to a guy that read certain 6u didn't.
From the factory they all did for the 67 MY, not the case for 68. I'm not certain when it started, but from a service perspective, by 1981 the Ford over-the-counter (NOS) hoods did not have holes for the letters. I bought a new hood at the NPD (the Ford National Parts Distribution warehouse in Livonia, MI - still there today) and had the guy check inventory. If there was a fender bender that required a new hood, that would be the most likely reason to not have them IMO.
I believe that somewhere "along the road", you have been misinformed. The Sales Brochure dated 8/66, the "1967 Ford Car Facts" Book (10/28/66), and the Factory Assembly Manual all show the "FORD" letters on the Hood.
These letters were eliminated for 1968 Models, which may be where the confusion comes from.
All 67's that I have seen (other than ones that had a 68, or replacement Hood, have the letters.
