Hi folks!

The plate on the door of my '66 mustang is 10L.

Does this mean it was built on the 10th day of December 1965?

Thanks in advance!

No. Door Data Plate dates are only when vehicles were scheduled to be built, and very,very often the actual build dates varied. Your door Data Plate date code indicates a car scheduled for assembly for November 10th, 1965. "L" was November. Unfortunately, actual production info for the '65/66 cars was lost in 1979.

Ford skipped the letter 'I' for the months in their naming - looks too much like a 1.

10L = November 10.

You can use classicponycars.com or google 'mustang decoder' to decode the rest of your data plate.
