As if 30 years weren't enough. I hit a deer last week in my precious '71 Mach driver. I'm working on it to fix the damage. Got replacement hood, fender, and grill.
When I removed the Driver's side fender there was a fairly large hole of about 2" of missing inner fender at the top of the shock tower where the fender aprons weld to the shock tower and the top of the fender bolts are located. The horizontal piece is a weld in piece. I see a lot of cars with this type of problem. Does anybody know where I can get a new weld in piece to tie the arpons and shock tower together?

I don't think anybody makes one because of the varying degrees of rust in that area. I made my own and cut the old out with a grinder and welded in the new piece. Just cut the old out first then you will know how big of a piece to make.

Is the inner structure bent? I have a complete left side aprons with shock tower and frame rail that I removed from a parts car, I drilled out the spot welds and cut the frame rail just in front of the torque box...
