I have never seen a Nasa hood with chrome inserts..some have inserts and they are black eggcrate design and serve no partical function other then to look good..however many hoods have functioning ram air systems under the hood..the scoops go directly into this ram system and feed cold air to the carb.. when the engine demands more air, via a vacuum connection
