I'm in the process of disassembling my 390 FE so I can get it to the machine shop. I have the engine torn apart but have run into a roadblock. I am having trouble getting the rear main bearing cap removed from the block. I know I'm not the only one who has experienced this "challenge" but before I go and do something that will screw things up, I thought I would ask for help. Is there a special technique for getting the rear main cap loose and out of the block? One other thing. How do you remove the oil dip stick tube? Thanks.

Usually I use a main bolt to try and rock it back and forth. Try holding the bolt Or a large screwdriver in one of the holes part ways and tapping it with a rubber mallet front to back.

Thanks, I'll give that a try.
