Yes you need an ASI plug and a fuse and heavy gauge charging cable…I used the motortrend article as a guide and used an AAW kit for the wiring, and an ASI plug off EBay ($5)
Need help with my 1g/3g alternator switch
I’m having some issues with the wiring on my old 1g alternator. Included some pictures for reference. Do I need a new harness or can I make what I have work?

Simple diagram, red and yellow can share post on back of Alt, gray/white plugs on back of Alt, red goes via fuse to starter solenoid and then BAT, ggreen, might have red stripe goes to ignition. Optional ground cable….only 2 wires need to leave Alt and run to inner fender…google ASI a plug for the connector…
