Hi.. my husband and I have a 1967 Mustang, 289 coupe and we just got the engine rebuilt and installed a couple weeks ago...The engine runs awesome.. but since we just put in electronic ignition and recently a new ignition switch..and replaced the cigarette lighter too.. our new issue is for some reason is the car battery (which is new also) is being drained and we have to jump it to start it up.. also the alternator is new as well.. so now the fun.. We are trying to sort out what is causing this? If any of you could point out some possible ideas.. we so would appreciate it very much.. thank you.

I had the same problem after installing my new battery and alternator. My problem turned out to be the mexican alternator belt that I purchased from a local parts store.
I took a trip to Mustangs unlimited and purchased the correct alternator belt and have not had a problem since.

Is the battery draining while parked or while driving or both?
