This is a rear tag on the axle. Can anyone help me decode this? There is also a date stamp? on the housing itself ( not sure what this actually is)

This is the door above the VIN tag... what is that hole next to the bolt for??

And finally another shot of the VIN tag itself..

I would be more concerned with the fatigue cracks around the door latch mech

Since the door has been repainted, I am not sure if that is not simply the cracking of the paint

8in 3.00 non locker 28 spline axles used from 65-70
6LB= yr month week
your vin axle A is for a 3.00 locker
your car was built in aug of 66 and your rear axle tage is later Dec.

uh, I hate to burst your bubble, but you can tell from the pictures that those are fatique cracks. This is generally caused by mis-aligned doors, and usually because of shot hinges. I would rebuild the hinges and at the least put the aftermarket reinforcements on there (available from NPD).

The extra hole is some creative drilling by a PO (have to expect some of this stuff when buying 40 year old cars).

The axle tag looks like a 3.0 open rear to me.

Well that solves it! The Marti Report and whats on the car matches to a 06M build planned date but actual November 29th build date... The 6 ( 1966) L ( november) and B ( second week?) would all correspond correctly! Thanks!

Looks like Bubba had some fun with that door. Unless you have some documentation, after looking at those pictures, I would really question whether or not the car has 34k miles or 234k miles.

That diff does have a lot of gunk on it for only 34K miles IMO.
