I was swapping gear housings on my new starter and i accidently pulled the stuff out the back. I mean the stuff on the shaft that was held by spring clips and such. I put it all back together (read the post from a couple of days ago about the Stupid-A-Thon), and now the starter won't turn. I'm pretty sure it wants to turn over but it just can't. I had it tested at the auto parts store.

Did I reinstall the stuff in the back incorrectly or is there another problem with it? It's brand new from NPD but it's been sitting in the garage for a year now. Thanks for your help.

You must be talking about the brushes that contact the armature. Sounds like you will have to take it apart again and make sure everything is free to turn.
