I've had my new TKO installed on my 302 for a couple of weeks now and
I'm finally ready to button up the car and fire the motor for the first time in
many many moons. So I go to install my 17" flex-a-lite fan and I realize
I can't get the shroud on because the top blade of the fan is higher than
the top tank of the radiator. And the 2-o'clock blade is poised to slash the
upper radiator hose. What's up with this?
The entire motor is sitting at about a 10 degree nose-up angle. I don't
remember it being like this before, but I had a different fan then and no
shroud, so it's possible. The TKO is installed as high in the trans tunnel
as it can get and is mounted with a Windsor-Fox crossmember and a
polyurethane mount.
What could cause a motor to "aim for the stars" like this? Wrong
motor mounts? Bad motor mounts? Or is this something that
happens with TKO/T5 trannies and everyone just uses electric fans?
