No Start No Crank On My 66 289

If you hold the ignition key over to the start position and move the gear shifter from.park to neutral, does it do anything?

Good luck understanding a wire diagram- its good for connecting wires, but if you want to understand it you need a schematic. This is for a 69 , but all the classics are very similar. Do you have an automatic? It sounds like you aren't getting power to terminal S of the starter solenoid. It could be the neutral safety switch (even an adjustment) if you have an automatic, or no power from Ignition switch S. Before you randomly replace parts, get an inexpensive volt-ohm meter and check for 12v at those places I just mentioned. Its cheaper than replacing parts. One lead goes to the chassis (or battery negative), and the other to those places. On the schematic, power generally runs from left (the battery + terminal) to right. Read those notes. If you need help holler.

Nope nothing kinda frustrating

I would check the solenoid. I know you replaced it, but many of the import units are junk and it’s possible you got a bad one.

Better yet, connect a volt meter to battery ground and the "S"side of the solenoid. When you turn the key to the "Start" position you should have something above 11V. If not, work backwards from the solenoid, which looks like the neutral safety switch. Jump out the safety switch with a short wire or alligator test leads, then try the key again. If still no start, move the positive voltmeter test lead to the plug on the neutral safety switch. If the drawing above is correct, then it should be the female side of the car harness plug. If still no positive voltage , then likely a broken wire or ignition switch. It's circuit "32" in the above drawing, just trace back from solenoid to ignition switch.

The break could also be in the firewall plug labeled "Main Disconnect"

Make sure it is in park! (or remove the coil wire ) Jumper from the battery + to the S terminal on the solenoid, it should start/turn over. If it dose not turn over it is probably the solenoid. If it turns over it is a wiring problem. Check your firewall plug for corroded terminals

Disconnect the S wire from the solenoid, connect that wire to battery + with a test light then turn the key to the start position. If the light comes on, the start circuit in your ignition switch is good. No light then it's probably the switch. To test the solenoid, disconnect the wire from the S terminal on the solenoid, connect a jumper wire (light gauge) to the S terminal, then touch the jumper wire to battery +. Your solenoid should click and crank the starter.
