I am trying to determine the correct oil capacity for my '70 428SCJ Mustang. The 1970 Owner's manual says: "302, 351, 428 = 5 quarts". Below this, the owner's manual goes on to say: "429 Boss, 428 = 7 quarts". Below this information the owner's manual states "add one quart for oil cooler". From this information, it could be anywhere between 5 and 8 quarts of oil for a 428SCJ. Does anyone know the correct oil capacity for a 428SCJ? I have put a total of 5 quarts in the car (it does have the external oil cooler) and it shows slightly over full on the factory correct dipstick. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Dennis, please fill in your bio. I recently bought a '69 428 SCJ and would like to get to know as many other people with one that I can. Thanks. Both this and the 428CJ sight are excellent sources of info!
