Just checking to see if anyone has any hints and hoping to avoid a doofus.

I bought a chrome oil dipstick tube and dipstick. It can't get the old one to come out of the block. I've taken out the bolt that holds it in place about 3/4 of the way up the shaft. There isn't anything else holding it in that I can see. Looking at the new one it appears to just be a slip joint at the bottom. (It is a 65 289)

I can't get this to rotate or move up even a tiny bit. It just won't move at all. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Did mine a little while ago in same car and engine, once you have the bolt off you can't be afraid, i took a pair of pliers and clamped on to it as close to the base as possible and twisted, turned, and yanked as hard as i could, who cares your putting a new one in! The new one i had was a little loose for the hole, so i flared it out slightly and it fit much bettor, no problems with it.
