Does anyone know of a place where I can get a new gasket for my oil filler cap. Mine was missing about a 1/2" of the ring and that just broke in half. I'm sure I can make one but thought I'd check here first.

This is for a '66 289.

Assuming you have a twist in cap with the 2 opposing "ears" how do you get a new gasket over the ears?

I have cast aluminum valve covers with rubber(?) grommets for the oil cap and PCV. Rubber (or similar substance that doesn't expand when it contacts petroleum) will stretch over the ears. Check the local hardware store. Bring what's left of your gasket and see if you can find a match somewhere in the "400 cardboard drawers full of unique items" section.
