Lolita has no oil pan for her new 388. I note that the aftermarket suppliers list different part numbers for the 302 vs 351. Is this because they really are different , or does this reflect front vs rear sumps ?

Lolita's block is a 69 351W..

Amen! I once got a 302 pan by mistake and couldn't figure out why the [email protected] it wouldn't fit.... It fit perfectly on the front but was too small on the rear. A quick call to the Ford Performance Parts techline and the guy politely told me that I was using the wrong pan. DOH!

351W pans come front sump (old Mustang), rear sump (trucks), center sump (vans), and double sump (Fox Mustangs). Basically. There are a LOT more applications.
