Well, after all this time Im in process of changing to a baffled stock pan on my Cleveland.

Months ago, I made sure the engine crossmember bolts would break loose........I started it loose, and dropped the idler arm and the pan almost fell on me, LOL!!!!

Dropping those two makes changing a small block oil pan a BREEZE!!

The oil pump pickup happily had only one tiny strand of rtv in it, and Ive cut open the oil filters every oil change (no rtv there).

I decided to pull the oil pump......bad thing was, I loctited the bolts and the loctite ripped the oil pump gasket......looks like it's time to make one.

Thought Id post my experiences so those who actually do a search would find good ideas.
