I broke the front part of the oil pan gasket taking the timing chain cover off, it was a cork gasket and is broken flush with the block, can I use silicone on this or will the gasket have to be replaced?

A replacement timing cover gasket set from Felpro includes "patch gaskets" just to replace the corners of the oil pan gasket that broke off. Situation normal.
