I have a 68 Mustang 289. What should the oil pressure be? I have a new oil pump, and I installed a new pressure guage. It reads approx. 40 psi cold idle.
I have a brand new rebuilt done by one of the best racing engine builders here in San Diego. It has about 250 miles on it after being broken in on his dyno and fully tested. It runs right at 40+ PSI when cold and at normal driving RPM. I does settle back to around 25-30 at hot idle. This looks pretty normal. It never exceeds 50 even at higher speeds. Hope this helps.
seen 10 PSI / 1000 RPM stated on VMF - do not know validity of number and do know gauges are not absloute devices but give relative values and occasionally correct values that would be determined by calibration with standard test devise.
