I have a 66' 6 cyl and the oil gage shows no pressure. I replaced the oil sending unit but still no pressure showing on the gage. So I figure either the gage is bad or I have no pressure. I don't really want to take the gage out now. I took the value cover off and there was some small drops of oil coming from the rocker arm. Not sure if this is normal. Is there a easy way to check to see if the engine has sufficient oil pressure?

Another possibility is that the oil sending wire is broken somewhere between the sending unit and the gauge. Or, the power line to the gauge from the constant voltage regulator is bad. I'd advise removing the instrument cluster, and check the gauge by a D-cell battery across the terminals: it should deflect. That should help isolate what the problem is.

I would get a mechanical gauge and hook it up to where the sender is. This will give you a definent reading. Has the car had low pressure for a long time, or did it just suddenly drop to "zero" one day?
