I'm using Valvoline 10-40W on my 65 6 cyl, here en El Paso Texas (now we're at 100F and tomorrow and all the summer) Is better the syn than my actual oil? Or any other grade?
What should I do? the engine feels pretty good.
But I'm always open to new ideas or ways to improve my drvive
Thanks!

Personally, if I was living in your area (I live in a similar hi heat area in Central California), I'd be running 20W-50 or straight 50W in a vintage inliner during the summer...

IMO, synthetics are great for modern tightly sealed, computer controlled engines but with our old, loose, mediocre sealed Pony engines, I personally think it's a waste of money, at least for a pure synthetic which is pretty expensive IME.

Running a good coolant package, overflow recovery and 13-16 lb radiator cap can also help with hot weather reliability.

Stay cool man!
