I just read about THIS TOWN on cnn.com.

Wow! It sure looks like a fantastic place to grow up, doesn't it? Funny thing is...I DID grow up there...and I always figured it was about the most boring place in the universe.

The other thing I notice about this piece is it isn't factual. There are several glaring inaccuracies from the "hot mineral springs" (they were actually cold...not hot) AND the casino issue is going to be on the November ballot...it's not a done deal.

Anyway...the point of this post is I wanted to tell you all:

Stop on by French Lick and spend some money sometime. God knows we need it around here ::. It ain't New York City...but then again we have 'lectricity ::

Yep. My hometown (Yellow Springs, OH) has become a tourist mecca in recent years, although most of the tourists are from the same general vicinity and come in on "day trips". I was bored as hell growing up there.

Strangely enough, Yellow Springs was also known for it's mineral baths back in the old days, much like French Lick, and had hotels geared toward visitors who would come for the "restorative" properties of the spring water.

Reported by the same network whose news crawler last night read:
"New Yorkers calm despite mayhem." :p

Ahhh the town is about 35 minutes from my house. I was just up there 3 weeks ago for my lil brothers little league all star tourney. They even won the tourney! I really dont see much of anything special about it hehe i guess its cause im there all the time. However those hotels are really nice. I beleive back when Al Capone was alive and had his gang that they were all the time in the West Baden Carlsbald, when it was a big casino and hotel.
