I have a 351W - 2v with an FMX tranny...I want to stay automatic but I'm thinking about wanting an overdrive...what can I do? Do I have to replace the tranny with an AOD tranny? What kind? From a 87 'stang for instance? I'm considering the option and would like to know any and all advice and opinions. Thanx! Guy(NH)

The June 2001 issue of Mustang Illustrated has an interesting
article on a bolt-on over/underdrive transmission which will
convert your C4/C6 (and presumably FMX) into (effectively)
a 6 speed AOD. It's not the cheapest alternative, but it is
transferrable from car to car so you can hang onto it if you
ever sell your ride.

I'm in the process of doing a C-4 to AOD (90 GT mustang) conversion. If you go to the old forum and do a search will find alot of info.
Here are a couple site that will give you an idea of what you need and the pricing of parts.
NPD and others also have conversion parts.
