Ok, we're headed to Oklahoma this weekend to check out a 64 1/2 convertible that's been in storage since 1976! Check it out.

It's a 170 4 speed car. The water pump is off so we can't try to start it. I thought I could try to rotate the engine by hand.

We'll be driving a Suburban pulling a car trailer, and I don't want to forget anything, so I thought I'd let you guys help me brainstorm. What tools should I bring to give this a thorough once over before I make an offer?

I wouldn't let a missing water pump stop me from starting it. Just don't leave it running too long. As far as tools, I'd take a compression tester for sure (and spark plug socket and ratchet, of course!). I'm sure others will have more suggestions. Good luck with the car!

Did you notice the color of the vert? Prarie Bronze with Palomino interior. I hope I can make this one look half as good as yours.

Thanks for the compliment! Will you keep it that color? Mine has really grown on me. It actually needs a repaint (paint is original, but faded with areas where a buffer has burned thru), but that interior/exterior combo is stunning when the sun hits it! That vert looks pretty solid in the picture. I used to live in Okla., and can tell you that there are a lot of clean cars there. Let us know how it turns out!

Just curious as to how much they are asking and how far you are driving to see it.

Flashlight or two, Floorjack-unless you know your friend has one, screwdriver-to take off parts so you can lift the carpet-also to see if you can stick it through the floors, rachet set-just because, lug wrench. Thats probably enough. I mean you're not disassembling the car, most of what you need are good eyeballs, thats where the flashlights come in.

Other supplies,,,Slim Jims, hot peanuts, Pink FLoyd, Rollo's, cokes, sweetarts, Doritos, sandels, pringles, Budweiser, Tom Petty, "Club" magazine, cheez whiz, sunglasses, Little Feat-Waiting for Columbus, fig newtons, gum, parka, Southern Culture on the Skids-Plastic Seat Sweat, and Tums.

I remember this car from the old forum. Was that you looking at it then too? If not, search the old forum for the posts. I know we went over it in some detail because there were pictures from just about every angle.

That was me. I have 22 pictures in all. I'm finally getting around to planning the trip.
