My next step is paint, and I am still unsure of what color to paint it. I have a few ideas but I don't know what would match very well. I was thinking about a dark blue with silver LeMans stripes but I think it will be tricky getting them to match the way want them too. Also, the one person painted his coupe Opal Frost Pearl Metallic and was wondering if anyone thought it would match to a Dark Blue Metallic very well. I need some insight here fellow mustangers, and maybe some pics to help me out.

If you want eye-catching, go for high contrast colors. Signal Flare Red with White LeMans stripes for example. If you want elegant but striking, go for darker colors with accent stripes. If you can give us more of a clue as to what fits your personal style, we can probably offer you a bunch of options.

Are you looking for both paint and interior colors, or is your interior color set already?

How about this color?

http://albums.photopoint.com/j/View?u=1571478&a=11942296&p=44183393.jpg

or this one

or the one in my signature. See how it varies with the different levels of light? Cool, huh. You have seen my 'beast'. Kinversand is the name of the paint. It is from a 2000 Range Rover Discovery II. It's got a lot of pearl in it (gold, yellow and white). It's going back to the shop on Monday, for final touchup. You can see it in person at FFF on April 22.

good luck...

Banker, I posted the color code for you with the name and ford has a dark blue that is also a pearl color that would go very nice with opal frost stripes. BTW opal frost pearl is a 94 ford color look up a WJ paint code for a 94 mustang and it will give you the color mine is done in dupont chroma system B/C works great and looks great. John

How about black with gold stripes a la '66 Hertz Shelby? Those always looked nice to me. I think it really depends on your interior color.

Interior color is black, mainly because it goes well with almost everything, and the PO had already purchased almost all of the interior parts

blue and silver would look cool!! if you want you could paint the blue over the silver so the stripes would be transparent.
but no matter how you paint it, it will be a cool mustang!

Hey!

What are you doing out of the garage anyhow? Dammit, I'm waiting to see how that Mach 1 looks red on black so I know if I'm going that direction or with the traditional black on red :).

Please post pics on that progress <G>

I like the dark blue metalic. Ford has one that they use on late models that almost looks like it has a little purple in it that is metalic that looks fantastic, lots of depth to it. Unfortunately I don't know the name. It's the color I would like to paint mine, but I'm so far away from painting, it's not even funny.

I think that with the black interior already in you should go with black outside aswell. Throw enough clear at it and I promise you will like it. Only problem is airconditioning would be a must. If you really need stripes though, maybe a white rocker stripe, but that would be it.

Here's a suggestion: silver with bright red LeMans stripes. I like the silver/red combo, and think it would look good with black interior.
Paint is a really personal decision. Choose wisely! Dickson

From what I can determine, 25 posts gets you to tire-kicker, 50 posts gets you to beginner, and 100 posts gets you to wrench-turner.

BTW, I'm out of the garage because the Mach has moved to phase 2 out in Ohio where the interior restoration and engine bay finish work (correct clamps, labels, etc.) are being done. The guys at the shop tell me they could have sold the car 10 times over since it arrived. People really like the red on black.

Ah paint, the point we all dream of. I personally like the Titanium color that Ford has, that with black stripes and polished 17 inch Torq Thrust II's would have to be my choice.
