This is the modern way of bonding panels together instead of welding. It's done all the time.

I've never used it myself but a Farrier I know makes truck caps. These are the heavy duty ones made of all metal. To assemble them they use double sided tape to attatch the panels. The only down side is you only have one shot to do it right. If i recall correctly it was a 3m product.

I have used it in the past. If used in the correct situation it works fine, but.... if used in a area that requires body filler over it, such as a sail panel area it will probably leave a ghost line in it over time, This is caused by a reaction of the chemicals in the differant products. I have seen this happen to many bodymen trying to shortcut. John
