Wondering what was going on here. I am in the process of upgrading to a Tremec T5 replacement for my Ford 3 speed manual transmission. When I pulled the 3 speed transmission, the bronze pilot bearing/bushing fell out of the bellhousing. Apparrently not installed or pressed in. This is my one owner 67 Fastback. I did have the clutch replaced many years ago. Everything was working just fine as far smooth shifting and operation. I did find the clutch was well past needing replacement with wear down to the rivets and grooving of both the pressure plate and flywheel so that will all be part of the upgrade. Is it possible it operated this way for years without any problems showing up?
I guess if there’s any good in this I won’t have to deal with pulling the old pilot bearing…
