I have pulled my plenum from my 1967 mustang with A/C and working on rebuilding it. I want to disassemble it all, clean, replace all gaskets and rubber, etc then re-assessemble. I have everything removed except for the rod with the small door/flap that is under the heater core. It has been a struggle and I can't get the rod to break loose from the flap/door due to the rust. I sprayed different forms of WD-40, etc. Any tips from the experts who have done this?

there should be 2 small screws you need to remove on the metal plate that hold the rod in place, you need to remove them

On my 65-66 boxes, I've used a torch to heat it up and wiggle it free. Not sure on a '67 if you have room for that or not, but it works.
