If it's a new traction-loc and gears, Run it with normal driving for 10 minutes, stop and let it cool for 30 minutes. Repeat this procedure a few times and you'll be set. Don't get on it for awhile. Good luck, Kevin.

I've heard that for trac-locs, one should run complete tight circles: first in one direction, then in the other. That gets the friction modifier additives mixed up and into the clutches.

I don't have any secrets to break in a new set of gears. I would suggest calling the gear manufacturer for advice or the Ford Motorsports hotline. I have called them and have always gotten reasonable advice.
I would like to point out that I don't think that they run the vehicles in little circles after they leave the factory assembly line. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

if you dont have to drive it for a while, I'd actually recommend NOT turning corners with it.....those clutches really need to soak in lube/friction modifier for a while first to last the longest.

Sounds silly, but if I had time and a new diff, I'd let it soak for a few days, then push the car until the tires are turned 1/2 revolution and let it soak a few days more (I'd ensure all areas of the clutches get to soak)
