I finally got the belt for my rebuilt power steering pump and installed it today. After filling up the pump and taking the car for a cruise there was a tremendous leak from the ball joint of the power steering control valve. It was leaking around the little sleeve - right near the grease injection point. The car has not had the power steering pump operable for several years. Can anyone give me a direction here. Should I just get a new ball and stud kit? Someone else said that the gear had to be really full of grease? Any suggestion...thanks.

Power steering on these early Mustangs must be rebuilt completely to acheive any kind of leak stoppage. Now that you have a new PS pump you are getting full pressure and fluid volume to the system. Leaks will appear everywhere. The PS control valve needs a rebuild along with the whole PS system, all hoses included. Sorry to bear bad news, but its like painting one wall of the living room - you wind up painting the whole house...
