Just curious how hard it is to rebuild the power steering components? The car was a 6 cylinder and someone put a v8 in it. I want to switch over to the 5 hub and front disc in the future but that might be a year off. Are the v8 and 6 cylinder components the same except for how heavy duty the v8 stuff is? Or do you need to change the spindles? Just curious if I could replace the current steering with the v8 stuff then I would just buy new instead of rebuilding and change the spindles and brakes in the future.

To swap for a '65-66 you need...

V8 spindles & hubs (with complete brake assemblies), inner and outer tie-rod ends, center link, Pitman Arm, Idler arm and steering stops.

Nearly nothing is the same.
The boxes are same, be it PS, or Manual.
From there all components from pitman to spindles are different, and do not interchange. If you want V8 PS, V8 5 bolt wheels, all this has to be converted.
Yes, you PS cylinder, and Control Valve body can be used to build a V8 lower Steering unit using the V8 centerlink. We have do this many times for folks.
