got my seatbelts from branda and put them in. even though they're lap belts, i like em a lot!

i figured even if i went with a harness or something like that, i've still got the spear-style steering column shaft to ruin my day.

i did a partial alignment by myself, might be hard to tell from the pix but there's a good -2 or -3 degrees of negative camber. kept the ridiculous camber and just made the toe adjustments 1/2 way straight.

i noticed my car running up around the 220 area after a few minutes so i HAVE to buy a shroud before i can go anywhere far! AND, i've gotta get a legit overflow tank and that pump-carb line straightened up.

BUT, the headlights, sequential tails, blinkers and LED parking lights work! and for those of you who wanted to see how the hood fits, here ya go! its ok... i dont have springs in it. sits high in some places and low in others but looks fine to me!

Looks great, I dig the hood

I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that if you would ditch that flex fan you would not need a shroud and eliminate the majority of your overheating. They look cool, but never had one that was worth a #%^@.

65fast, thanks! i liked your autocross video! the lenses are clear but the LED bulbs are yellow... that way i'm still legal!

fast68back, do you think i'd be better off with a stock style fan? i've tossed tons of em over the days. another thing i absolutely hate about that flex fan is that its soooo sharp. just barely touching it while the engine is not running cuts arms, fingers or anything else!

Its been my experience with them. I bought my first Mustang and it had one, looked really cool compared to the stock ones, but car ALWAYS ran hot. I kept changing water pumps and two radiators and best swap was the fan. If you rev the car you will notice the blades will flatten out and hardly pull any air (put your hand in FRONT of the radiator).

Looks like you have a lot of room, you could always go electric and hide it in a shroud if you don't like the look.

I agree 100%. Someone wiser than myself pointed that out to me on my old fastback. Switched it out and that engine never ran too hot again.

Looking good! I noticed something else...

That upper hose looks to me, bent too far- maybe the filter needs to be somewhere in the middle so that it does not restrict water flo. It almost looks colapsed. Fan is also way more effective closer to the rad and with shroud. I have 17" flex that works OK.
But if it cuts you- I don't blame you for throwing it out.

I really like those seat belts, how much did they set you back?

The front of your fan should be much closer to the radiator.... an inch of space is optimum.

FWITW, I'm using a very similar fan with no shroud (yet) and have no issues.

When does your engine temp reach 220? While running? Or after you've been running and shut it down?

I'm with Dave. I have never had an heat issue with Red using a flex fan and shroud. Yes, your fan is way too far away from the rad. Is that a Gano coolant filter?

I think I'm running the same flex fan, but mine is inside the thin factory shroud. Mine runs cool enough now, but I noticed the biggest difference in my engine temp after the engine was broke in, it ran cooler.

I also have the same fan mounted within 1 in. of the radiator, but mine is inside a plastic fan shroud with a brass 4 row radiator, temp has never climbed. even driving it to the track and drag racing and driving it home. And I still have all ten fingers.

I love the hood it gives the car a racey attitude and the seatbelts match the look, I cant wait till i can buy mine.

thank you guys for the helpful tips and comments. the seatbelts are here http://www.cobranda.com/cosebe.html ....they set me back $129 bucks for a pair.

i'll move my fan closer to the radiator and pick up a shroud this weekend and hopefully that will help. i never even thought about the upper hose issue, i guess it's because i put that gano filter in there so it made the bend extra severe. by the way the gano filter is pretty cool. i picked it up at the place where they're being made in los altos (ca).

it reached 220 after driving around for about 10 or so minutes. i wasn't dogging the car, just putting around having fun.
