After selling the Charger my late father and I built together I was looking for another car. Found this one online fairly local and had what I wanted, V8, stick, no power anything and was complete. Upon disassembly she had lots of rust issues and I thought about tanking the entire thing. Instead, maybe foolishly or not, I went back to my roots and dug into it. Sold some other stuff to buy the welder and tools needed and started disassembly in my garage. Here's her journey.

Car looked really great... they hid a lot of the wrong really well.

I never got around to posting interior shots for some reason.

After replacing the floors I primed, seam sealed then applied a few coats of bed liner on top. On top of that I put down some sound deadener I found on Amazon. One box was enough to do my entire floor, some of the trunk and still have leftovers.

The car wasn't a console car originally but I liked the look so decided to add it. My refurb of that is in this thread. Interior is TMI's Sport R with grey stitching to match the wheels. The red stitching was too bright compared to my paint and thought it would pop too much. They quoted me last year something crazy like 4mo, but everything showed up in less than a month. Unsure how that happened but I was happy.

Still needs a radio and I'll probably buy a fresh pair of door panels as the older ones I refurbed in this thread are splitting at the door cup/pull.

When I bought it originally

I'll spare you more rust pics once I pulled up the carpets after the above shots were taken 🥴

Floors replaced, sealed, primed, bed lined and sound deadener applied.

We've been hitting local weeknight cruise-in's and just driving it around lately. I changed over to a '65 style fuel pump and added a fan shroud, but besides that I've had no issues with the car whatsoever. She starts on the first turn nearly every time and cruises perfectly down the road. Temperature runs a solid 185deg when moving even in the near 90deg heat we've had. Since it's a new car to the local scene she's been getting a lot of attention wherever we go. We've had so many compliments it's crazy, even with the car still needing a final buff. Feels good to finally enjoy it.

Looks great in and out!!

Chris
WOW! Looks great.
Thanks guys!

It's funny cause just like the Charger I had 15 yrs ago, the old timers keep trying to "test" me to see if I just bought the car as is or actually did all the work. Other Ford and Mustang guys asking only questions someone who dug as deep as I did would know. Once we get to talking they lighten up a bit and compliment me on the work. Crazy some people still frown on those who bought a finished car to enjoy vs. actually built one like me. Who cares lol.

Holy crap! That's a lot of work! This is incredibly impressive, and just.... Kudos! This is incredible work, and looks amazing
Thanks! If you need any help along the way with yours let me know. Pretty much know where all the spot welds are on these cars lol.

I said we wouldn't do judged shows but this one today benefited a local dog shelter and adoption facility. Being dog people I decide to drive ol' Tetanus down to it for the day. Was also a good excuse to get kiddo out of the house for what may be one of the last really nice weekends this season. We had six or so cars in our class ('60-'69 custom) and only two winners per class. To our astonishment we won 1st place! Total surprise as there was some tough competition.

Our town also has an organized cruise night one time a month so we hit that a few weeks ago as well. Still running great and giving me no grief. Not much longer and she'll be hibernation.

Sweet ride. I’m at the beginning process of where you were at when this all started for you 7 years ago. I just hope for less rust. Mine is a similar color, and hopefully a similar driver. Thanks for the build guide!

If I ever go with 17”s, along a few other touches, it will because of your car.. I just love those wheels!

Appreciate that, thanks! Ultra Wheels stopped making them, but another wheel company is repopping them under a different name.

What size are they 17x?
What size tire?
My car once completed will look very similar.
I just read through this entire build thread. Wow, very impressive, fantastic work. The color is amazing. Threads like these are what drives me to keep going with my project.
Decided that yesterdays rainy cold Sunday was a good excuse to pull the open 2.80 rear end and install the 3.40 posi unit. Not the easiest job by ones self on their back, but it got done. Unfortunately, the weather and power going out just after I finished kept me from test driving. Things are looking better for today though. Sat overnight and no leaks this AM, so as long as there are no problems driving I can mark this off the list. Anyone need a perfectly good 8" 2.80?

17x8 all around with 225/45 front and 245/45 rear. I just found out a company named Coys Wheels is now making them. They call it the C-67.
