Hello Mustangers,

Since the last few months where i did a lot of highway driving i noticed the following..
Everytime the car is hot and i have it idling the power steering pump makes a rattle/clicking sound. When i raise the idle speed it disappears again. It sounds like there is something loose in the pump.. Since it is getting worse i want to do something about it.

What could make these kind of noises inside the pump? Should i order a new pump or rebuild it myself?

Thanks in advance

Had the same issues w/ my pump. Had it rebuilt by Randy from the forum. Look HERE . He found a busted up cam pack, which are the bits that do the pumping inside the housing, and not something you'd normally take care of w/ a standard, DIY rebuild.

Just getting my car back on the road, so I can't give you any conclusive results yet. Hope this helps.

I will contact him to check if he has a rebuilt pump ready to send to me or that i will have to send my old pump over to the US.
