I am building a 302/347 stroker for my 66 Mustang that uses an E7 302 Block, but have ran into a problem with the timing cover. I was told that it previously had an early timing cover on it so I picked up one off a 68. It looks likes everything lines up fin, but at the bottom of the block are hollow studs that look like they are there for alignment. My timing cover does not allow for this and therefore will not sit flat. Can I drill the holes in the timing cover to allow for this, or do I need a different timing cover?
